Artist and sculptor André Guimarães, born in Bahia, Brazil, was fascinated by horses from a young age. His childhood was filled with stories of legendary riders and thrilling races. He grew up in the mid of the emerald and ruby family mines in Serra da Carnaíba. His grandfather, a skilled miner, taught him how to work with these precious minerals from an early age where he spent hours observing the colors and textures of the stones and how they would shimmer in the sunlight. It was in this environment that he developed a keen eye for beauty and form.

One day, while exploring one of the family mines, he stumbled upon a special rock that resembled the majestic shape of a horse. Fascinated by the discovery, he decided to sculpt the rock and transform it into a work of art that would represent his passion for horses. With his skillful hands and a fertile imagination, he brought the rock to life, intricately carved every muscle, every mane, and every expression on the face of the sculpted horse. He was amazed by the result: a sculpture that seemed ready to come to life at any moment.
